Elbrus-2c3
Deo prvi.

The panel 1E16S-uATX TVGI.469555.466, developed and manufactured by MCST JSC, fell into my hands. This is a debug board for developers on the first of the Russian processors that have hardware support for virtualization on board. The panel is intended for companies - developers of end devices based on Elbrus-16C. In addition to hardware virtualization, Elbrus-16C is a system on a chip (no chipset is required - all I / O channels are already in the processor itself), it has 16 cores with a clock frequency of 2 GHz, an integrated DDR4 controller, 10GEthernet, USB 3.1, 32 PCIe v. 3 and all this was developed in Russia on 16 nm technology.

Kratki pregled razvoja sa osvrtom na CPU Bajkal i samu tehnologiju istog.

Publishing engineering samples On 05/26/2015 JSC "Baikal Electronics" announced the release of engineering samples of the Baikal-T1 multi-core processor, focused on use in a wide range of industrial and consumer devices in the markets of communication solutions, industrial automation and embedded systems. Features of Baikal-T1: 2 superscalar cores P5600 MIPS 32 r5 Operating frequency 1.2 GHz L2 cache memory 1 MB DDR3-1600 memory controller Integrated interfaces: 1 x 10Gb Ethernet port 2 ports 1Gb Ethernet PCIe Gen.3 x4 controller 2 x SATA 3.0 ports Power consumption < 5 W Technological process 28 nm Case 25x25 mm.

Grigory Krenov, technical director of Baikal Electronics, noted: "Without exaggeration, the appearance of Baikal-T1 is a major milestone for the Russian microelectronics industry. Our experts created not only a processor, but also the first domestic system-on-a-chip with a number of modern high-speed interfaces... It is important to note that this is also the first realization in the world of the latest version Warrior P-class P5600 cores from the popular MIPS processor architecture focused on communications and embedded systems of systems. This allows Baikal-T1 to take its place in a vast ecosystem that has been developing for more than 30 years and has significant potential in growing markets. Another highlight of the system is the possibility to create solutions based on that passive cooling... Baikal-T1 is a domestic development, source codes are found in all blocks, including licensed ones, which is a guarantee of a high level of product safety ". "Our shareholders set us an ambitious goal - to develop only competitive products - and we moved towards its implementation: we assembled a professional team of engineers, obtained licensing for the most modern IP and development tools, and concluded an agreement with a leading factory to use the 28 nm technological process . We have completed all stages of the development route - from the creation of the system-on-chip architecture to topological synthesis and verification - and today we present the result of our intensive work - engineering samples of our first product", - said Svetlana Legostaeva, CEO.

Processor specifications

Baikal-T1 is a so-called system-on-a-chip with dimensions of 25 by 25 mm and a declared power consumption of less than 5 watts. It has two superscalar P5600 MIPS 32 r5 cores with an operating frequency of 1.2 GHz. It has 1 MB of L2 memory and a DDR3-1600 memory controller. The chip has one 10Gb Ethernet port, two 1Gb Ethernet port, PCIe Gen.3 x4 controller, two SATA 3.0 ports, USB 2.0. The chips are manufactured using a 28-nanometer process - directly at the factory of the Taiwanese company TSMC. The last circumstance determines the fact that Baikal-T1 is classified by the Ministry of Industry and Trade as a Russian integrated circuit of the second level, and not as the first, as was the case with the local plant.

The T-Platform company presented the first serial computer based on the Russian Baikal-T1 processors. The computer, made in a monoblock form-factor, was named "Tavolga Terminal". The "Baikal-T1" processor - the pride of "T-platform" - was created by its "daughter", the company "Baikal Electronics". This is an industrial chip with MIPS32 R5 Warrior architecture. It has two 32-bit P5600 cores with an operating frequency of up to 1.2 GHz, 1 MB L2 cache and a DDR3-1600 memory controller. Strictly speaking, only the chip is developed in Russia, the functional blocks of the processor core are licensed by Imagination Technologies, and the processor itself is manufactured at TSMC facilities. The Baikal-T1 processor is a dual-core processor, its capabilities are not disclosed on the computer manufacturer's website. T-Platforms names US company Broadcom's Stratagx series and Freescale's QorIQ T1020 series chips as direct competitors. Based on these microcircuits, routers (including domestic ones), as well as devices for industrial automation and thin clients are created. In terms of performance, these solutions are inferior to computers based on Intel processors 5-6 years ago.

The Baikal-T1 chip is positioned as the first Russian processor based on the 28 nm technological process. Flagship smartphones iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which include a single chip Apple platform A9, available on two different manufacturers Samsung and TSMC: in the first case, technology with 14 nanometers is used, in the second technology with 16 nanometers. The computing power of Apple A9 is so great that it can be compared with performance not only with devices in its class, but also with gadgets of another category, AnandTech wrote earlier. According to reviewers, Apple's latest generation processors have reached such a level of performance that they can compete with the Intel Core M line. The previous generation iPhone, which debuted in 2014, is based on Apple A8 chips and is manufactured by the same TSMC using 20 – 22 nm process technology.

Even earlier iPhone 5s model is based on 28nm Apple A7 processor. And exactly this architecture corresponds to the architecture of "Baikal-T1" processors from "Tavolga Terminal".

At the same time, A7 is a 64-bit chip, while the Russian "analog" works with 32-bit cores.

In addition to the 2-core processor, it also includes the 21.5-inch "Tavolga terminal" SM750 graphics adapter with 16 MB of video memory. Monoblock random access memory - from 2 to 8 GB, you can choose a disk - either 8 GB NAND Flash, or 8 GB SSD disk on a chip, or 2.5 ”SATA SSD. The computer is equipped with two gigabit Ethernet ports, which allows you to work with two different networks (for example, external and internal) and four USB 2.0 ports.

Yesterday I was the first press representative to visit the Baikal Electronics Company, which developed and manufactures the Baikal-T1 processor.

This small processor consumes only 5W and can work even without a cooler.

The processor has three Ethernet ports (two Gigabit and one 10 Gigabit), DDR3-1600 memory controller with support up to 8 GB, PCIe Gen.3 controller, SATA 3.0 controller (6 Gbps), USB 2.0 controller.

The processor is built on a 2-core MIPS 32 r5 P5600 (this is the first realization in the world of a processor based on this core), which operates at a frequency of up to 1.2 GHz, a built-in cache of 1 MB, a technological process of 28 nm.

The performance of Baikal-T1 is comparable to Intel Atom processors and processors of modern smartphones... Primarily it is used primarily in telecommunications equipment (routers, managed switches), but it is also suitable for low-end customers. "T-Platforma" company starts production of Tavolga Terminal TP-T22BT monoblocks based on the Baikal T1 processor.

They will be used to create workstations where special security requirements are imposed. "Tavolga" runs under Linux and can be equipped with any compatible application programs - suite of office applications LibreOffice, Firefox browser and many others. Tavolga Terminal also works in terminal mode as a web client, providing remote access to any application through a web browser or using remote work protocols such as RDP or VNC.

Baikal Electronics signed a memorandum of scientific and technical cooperation with Lenovo. Lenovo has already shown a working sample of the ThinkCentre Tiny-in-one 23 monoblock, built on the Baikal-T1 processor.

Today, for the first time, I publish data on the speed of the Baikal-T1 processor, operating at a frequency of 1 gigahertz.

Core Mark: 10342 core marks (2 thread), Whetsnone: 1052 MWIPS (2 thread), Dhrystone: 3651 VAX MIPS (1 thread). Core results for most processors can be found here. By the time the development of the Baikal-T1 processor was completed, the company had already been in existence for three years, employing 70 Russian hardware engineers and programmers. The licensed MIPS P5600 core was taken as a basis, in addition, the Ethernet, SATA and USB controllers were licensed. Russian developers had to put these components together, make them work properly with each other, and wire the chip according to the modern 28nm topology. Some of the processor's components are designed from scratch. I asked to show the topology of the Baikal-T1 processor.

The Baikal-T1 processor turned out to be quite competitive and due to a large number of different interfaces the chip has advantages over competing products of foreign developers. At a cost of about $60, it will allow the creation of telecommunications and industrial equipment, dispatch units and thin clients, automation and control systems. The Russian origin guarantees the absence of "bugs" and will allow its use in structures with increased requirements for information security. Now Baikal Electronics is working on the development of new processors based on ARM architecture - Baikal-M for desktop computers, embedded systems, industrial automation, smart cameras and Baikal-MS for microservers and embedded systems. ", Which includes computers based on the BE-T1000 processor (" Baikal-T1 ") and operating systems" Alt "for servers and workstations. The initial sales volume is planned at 1 thousand computers per month; the task for the next 2 years - to increase to 10k per month Posted in TAdviser on February 25, 2019 in Hamster Robotics More details.

2017

"MyOffice" will appear on the "Tavolga terminal" The desktop version of the My Office suite of office programs will be supported by Tavolga Terminal workstations based on Russian Baikal-T1 processors. The company New Cloud Technologies, developer of the My Office package, and the company T-Platformi, which created the Tavolga terminal, concluded an appropriate agreement on technological partnership. The "MyOffice Standard" package, capable of working on the "Tavolga" terminal, will begin to be distributed through the "My Office" partner network from the beginning of 2018. The package allows you to create and edit documents, tables, presentations, as well as manage by post. It allows you to work with popular file formats like DOCX, XLSX and PPTX. Compatible with various operating systems including Windows and Linux.

2018

The BE-T1000 processors will retail for 3990 rubles JSC Baikal Electronics, a Russian company and microprocessor manufacturer, announced in May 2018 the beginning of retail sales of its products in quantities needed for prototyping and production of test samples of products. Starting June 1, 2018, home systems on a chip BE-T1000 (codenamed Baikal-T1) will be available at Chip & Dip electronic component stores. The retail price of one processor is 3990 rubles. The price policy of product series for serial production is determined by JSC "Baikal Electronics" on an individual basis. In this case, the supply of products is carried out by AD "Baikal Electronics" directly to the customer. The BE-T1000 SoC meets the requirements for Russian-made industrial products and is classified as a second-level integrated circuit.

Baikal processors are starting to be sold in retail. The price is reduced by four times In fact, the BFC is a one-off computer without a graphics subsystem (a dedicated video card). In addition, the dashboard can be connected to an external monitor for visual display - the video will be processed by the central processor itself. The company explains that earlier these boards with Baikal processors were available only to legal entities, and their price was about 200 thousand rubles. Now 3.1 BFK in retail will be sold at a price of 50 thousand rubles, although this amount can be adjusted by about 5 thousand rubles. depending on the adopted system of taxation. Those who want to test the capabilities of the Baikals before buying them can now do so for free. On January 11, it became known that thanks to the efforts of Baikal Electronics and the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics (CMC) of Moscow State University, a domestic electronics laboratory began to work on the basis of the VMC data center, access to which is open to all interested parties . Using the resources of the laboratory, called the Baikal Electronics Laboratory (LEB), it is possible to evaluate the performance of the central processing unit and solutions based on it, as well as debugging applications and system software.
