Prekrstiti se prvo tri puta :connie_oldman_cleanglasses:

:playboy:.

Prepiska tj. mini intervju sa irca nothing in the last 15 years :connie_jackinabox:
07:24 #nouveau: < jbrodkin> Hello. My name is Jon Brodkin and I write for Ars Technica. I’m writing about Nvidia releasing public documentation regarding its GPUs: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/nouveau/2013-September/014480.html I was wondering if any of you kind people could tell me how significant this is. How much will this help improve compatibility with Nvidia systems, and in what specific areas? Is there anything else you’d like to see Nvidia do, or does
07:24 #nouveau: < jbrodkin> this cover it?
07:24 #nouveau: < jbrodkin> Thanks in advance
07:24 #nouveau: < mlankhorst> well it covers what is specified in the documentation
07:25 #nouveau: < jbrodkin> Is this stuff you already knew, or does it actually help in building the driver?
07:25 #nouveau: < mwk> jbrodkin: this particular piece of documentation - not very
07:25 #nouveau: < mwk> we knew a major part of it
07:25 #nouveau: < mlankhorst> it helps us find a few corner cases for cards we don’t own
07:25 #nouveau: < mwk> though it allows us to handle uncommon cases we haven’t seen in the wild
07:25 #nouveau: < calim> hm, aren’t there always little issues with display stuff ?
07:26 #nouveau: < mwk> the stuff nvidia wants to offer in the future is much more interesting, really
07:26 #nouveau: < mwk> that does sound like a good start, though
07:26 #nouveau: < jbrodkin> That’s what I was getting at… what else do you expect them to offer, and what would you like to see?
07:26 #nouveau: < mlankhorst> I expect nothing, but hope for everything. 😛
07:27 #nouveau: < jbrodkin> That’s a good plan 🙂
07:28 #nouveau: < calim> I expect them to offer more than AMD haha
07:28 #nouveau: < jbrodkin> Is this the first time Nvidia has made a release like this?
07:28 #nouveau: < calim> as far as docs are concerned; but not hiring extra devs, which would probably be even more useful
07:28 #nouveau: < mwk> jbrodkin: yes
07:28 #nouveau: < jbrodkin> Thanks
07:28 #nouveau: < calim> well
07:28 #nouveau: < mupuf> jbrodkin: first time since they stopped developping their own open source driver
07:29 #nouveau: < mlankhorst> well unless you count the xfree86 3.3 release
07:29 #nouveau: < calim> in the last 15 years
07:29 #nouveau: < mlankhorst> yeah 😛
07:29 #nouveau: < mwk> that’s first non-NDA doc ever
07:29 #nouveau: < mwk> though apparently back in NV01/NV03 days you could actually get some docs easily under NDA
07:30 #nouveau: < mlankhorst> probably the paperback kind
07:30 #nouveau: < mwk> possibly
07:32 #nouveau: < init_6> http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/PowerManagementDumps/ it is still actual?
07:34 #nouveau: < calim> you mean “relevant”
07:35 #nouveau: < init_6> yep
07:35 #nouveau: < init_6> so need or not?
07:37 #nouveau: < mupuf> init_6: depends on your card
07:37 #nouveau: < mupuf> what chipset do you have?
07:37 #nouveau: < init_6> mupuf: gf 9300M gs
07:37 #nouveau: < mupuf> what chipset does it translate to?
07:38 #nouveau: < jbrodkin> Thanks for your help, I’ll leave you developers to your work. Have a good one.
